The Dove

Situated in the countryside of Canton Zurich in Switzerland, this traditional English Country House redesign began with a beautiful, traditional English textile. The Doves fabric for the headboard and valance inspired the calming, multed blue and green color palette of the space.

The brief was to make a more functional use of the generous proportions of the internal space of the 1875 villa the room is situated within. Starting with a reimagining of the layout, we were able to greatly increase the functionality of the space. As we moved deeper into the design concept phase, we pulled inspiration from the best of traditional interior design and English Cottage style.

On numerous antique sourcing trips and also working with some antiques already in the space, we gathered the elements the room required, blending both classic brown wood antique furnishings and also a whitewashed oversized armoire which was instrumental in solving the issue of a lack of closet space which is inherent to historic homes.

After a trip to the Chelsea Design Centre in London, a completed room rendering and procurement list was finalized, and sourcing for the project began, involved numerous boutique European homewares and interiors brands imported from all around the continent to the home in Canton Zurich, Switzerland.
